  Welcome to
the Trinity Library

by Anne Secor, Trinity Librarian
June 2001
Although many Trinity churchgoers know where the Library is and are aware of its value to the church, there may be newcomers and not-so-new-comers unfamiliar with this pleasant room. If you go up the stairs near the Parish Hall one flight, then into the corridor, you come first to the Chapel, on the right, and then, straight ahead, at the end of the corridor, is the Library.

The Library's windows overlook the Lehigh Ridge and the steeples of South Bethlehem and the treetops along Market Street. Good light and comfortable chairs make the room a quiet cozy spot to read The Living Church or Anglican Digest or skim over a book.

Shelves are lined with books, categorized with occasional labels. Subjects range from Bibles, Prayer Books, Commentaries, and Hymnals, to books of devotion, inspiration, social problems, psychological and spiritual self-help, other religions, biography, saints, and symbols, plus a smattering of fiction and general non-fiction. There are also many wonderful children's books-from toddler to pre-teen-even the Narnia series.

We have good collections by C. S. Lewis, Lloyd Ogilvie, Bishop Spong, Henri Nouwen, Will Durant (the Civilization series), and Peter and Catherine Marshall-to name a few.

If you find a book or two that you'd like to read--by looking in the card catalog (on the shelf just to the right of the entrance) or by browsing through the collection--the borrowing procedure is simple. Just date and sign the card that's in the card pocket in the back of the book and put the card in the white box on top of the card catalog.

Anything may be borrowed except obvious reference books, such as Bible concor-dances and dictionaries, and a few really old Bibles.

We're gradually getting into audio and video tapes. If you have tapes (or books) you would like to contribute, just leave them on the shelf with your name.

The Library is available whenever the church is open, although you may sometimes find it being used for a meeting.

I am usually in the Library Tuesday and Thursday mornings and can be reached at home, 610-838-6079, if you have questions or need help.
